The Health Level Seven International Working Group Meeting (WGM) & HL7 FHIR Connectathon is coming up on 10-16 May 2025.
This time, it will take place in Madrid, Spain, an opportunity for European participants to be part of this exciting meeting close to home. While the WGM (including countless sessions on standards and education, and of course the Connectathon) will be global in scope, there will be activities that are driven and led by HL7 Europe, and may be of special interest to participants in Europe.

Experts, industry, and EU-funded projects are converging on the HL7 FHIR as a route to interoperable healthcare and a central tenet of the European Electronic Health Record and its Exchange Format.
Hospitals and every healthcare providers are where health data is predominantly created. Data located in these organizations needs to be shared, in support of the European Health Data Space (EHDS) creation and to become a reality for citizens by supporting the primary and secondary use of health data.
The Hospitals-on-FHIR initiative is a Community of Practice aimed at boosting interoperability maturity in organizations, fostering a progressive and collaborative approach to gearing up to the EHDS ethos of creating value for patients through data sharing.
